POREformative is an online photography exhibition that celebrates the natural beauty of Black girls ages 13 - 24 who experience skin conditions such as acne, eczema, or hyperpigmentation. For Black girls, it can feel even harder because we are also dealing with unfair beauty standards, colorism, and pressure from the media that often doesn’t reflect us. Everything in mainstream media promotes flawless skin, often digitally altered or covered with makeup, leaving little room for authenticity or self-acceptance. POREformative aims to change that narrative. I want to empower Black girls to embrace their natural skin and find confidence in their authentic selves.
